Slots Machine Winning Tips

Slots is a game whereby the player wagers on the likelihood that a particular winning combination will arise when he/she "spins" the "reels". Possible winning combinations are described in the game's payout table.

Each machine should have a payout table. This table shows which combinations are winning combinations. It also shows the amount that can be won when a player "spins" a particular winning combination.

Some machines give the player the opportunity to win money via secondary game. This usually involves the player betting half or all of his/her winnings on the possibility that a hidden card is either red or black. Some machines also offer free and/or 'feature' games.

There are generally two kinds of slots machines: standard and progressive. Standard machines function on their own and payout winnings according to their payout table. Progressive machines are a series of machines linked up to each other. These machines share a common jackpot or jackpot values. The shared jackpots grow over time, as more and more people play the machines without winning a jackpot. As you can imagine, these jackpots can become enormous. Linked progressive machines may reside in the same room, same building, anywhere within a city, country or even globally. This is particularly true of Internet-based slots games.

How much do slot machines pay? Slot machines are generally programmed to pay a percentage of their winnings. This percentage tends to be between 85% and 98%, depending on the machine, it's location and usage. The higher the percentage, the more the machine tends to payout.

TIPS

Choose a machine that advertises a high payout percentage (between 95% and 99%, if possible). These games might have a high value minimum bet.

Try to understand the machine's payout table, particularly in relation to the amount you are betting. It would be sad to discover that your winnings would have been significantly greater had you bet a little more.

Some progressive slots only offer the jackpot prize to players that bet the maximum amount. For this reason, it is important that you understand the machine's payout table before playing.

The amount wagered does not influence the likelihood of spinning a winning combination.

It can sometimes be more rewarding to bet the maximum amount allowed per line. As this option can quickly drain your funds, it might be worthwhile finding a machine that allows betting in smaller denominations: quarters, for example, as opposed to dollars.

Recognize when a jackpot (large value) has been won. Some machines will ask you to call an attendant who will organize payment to you. Never handle or walk away from a machine that has just produced a jackpot winning. Call the attendant or have someone call him/her for you while you wait at the machine.

If you play in a club or other land-based establishment, try to take note of which machines seem to be paying out regularly. It might be worthwhile giving these machines a go sometime. You might find that these machines are placed in more prominent positions throughout the club, where they are more likely to attract players.

Consider trying the machine next to you if your machine isn't paying off.

Find out if the venue you intend to play at offers other incentives, such as points, meals, accommodation, etc, that goes with your game play. This however doesn't mean that you should play purely for these secondary benefits.

If your luck seems to be running out, it might be a good idea to stop playing. Many people win large amounts, only to lose their winnings be continuing to play.

Make sure you empty the machine of your credit prior to leaving it. Each year, people accidentally abandon machines that still have their credit inside.

Assign a budget for the day's play. If the budget is lost, you will know when to leave the casino.

Don't bet more than you can afford to lose and remember to always have fun :)
