The Charm of Minnesota lies in its Natural Beauty

By: Laura Durso

It’s true that Minnesota is not the place many people would like to call home. It turns extremely cold in the winter due to its location on the northern edge of the continental United States. No wonder, the geographically large state of Minnesota does not even rank in the top twenty states in terms of population.

However, Minnesota is a great attraction for tourists, especially in summer. It is situated along the shores of Lake Superior and enjoys cool summer breezes in the summer months making it a perfect retreat for holidaymakers. They come here to visit the pristine landscape and the natural splendor of Minnesota.

Visitors who come to Minnesota are not always attracted by theme parks or high class gambling venues. In fact, they want to spend their free time in Minnesota to escape the trials, stresses, and madness of the places from where they come. They would rather spend time exploring the deep forests and pristine lakes and experience a simple lifestyle and the peace of mind that comes with it.

If you love outdoors you will love Minnesota and truly enjoy the experience. You can go hiking, biking, boating, and choose from a host of other outdoor activities all across the great state.

One of the most popular attractions in Minnesota is The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This area is rich in outdoor adventure opportunities. A thousand pristine lakes abound this area of wilderness. Some of these crystal clear lakes may even allow opportunities for water skiing and not just swimming, fishing and boating. To preserve the natural beauty of the lakes, motorized boats may not be allowed in certain lakes.

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness attracts canoe enthusiasts from the world over. They come here to try their skills on these complex and challenging waterways. Besides, there are plenty of campgrounds, resorts, and lodges in the area that make for perfect getaway spots from the madness of the rat race.

The other big draw for vactioners is the wild life reserves and parks of Minnesota. These reserves are home to animals such as the eagles, bears, wolves, deer, moose and the crazy loons. It’s very easy to spot these animals on a visit to one of the reserves. To the serious wildlife enthusiast, there are deeper tracts of wilderness that surely have a richer collection of the flora and fauna.

Minnesota is definitely not a "glitz and glamour" kind of state. Its residents tend to be down to earth and true lovers of Nature and the splendor of the natural world which is probably why they have done such a remarkable job preserving their state. Fortunately for the rest of us, we can visit this natural splendor and bring back with us memories that will last a lifetime.
