The Epidemic of the Cancer

By: ilker Billurcu

The cancer represents a threat all human being, at least one of each three people will develop cancer at some moment of its life. The people constantly are exposed to thousands of cancerigenic substances, an example is the chemical contamination product present of daily consumption. The people can accumulate without number of cancerigenic substances without realizing, by means of the inhalation, the ingestion or contact with the skin with products of cleaning like detergent, soap, meals like fruits and meats with hormanas, among others. The scientists of the University of Liverpool, England, discovered that chemistries that are in detergents, insecticides, plagicidas and in products even derived from milk, play a more important role like cancer cause of which previously it was believed.

The organoclorados ones are substances that are in plastics and the pesticidas, the exhibition to small amounts of this chemistry is sufficient to be considered a factor cause of chest cancer. The report of State of Evidence of the 2006, published by the Breast Fund and Breast Cancer Action, maintains that the exhibition to radiation or synthetic chemistries increases the risk of suffering cancer of breast. The new study of the University of Liverpool published in the Journal of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, affirms that the contact with small amounts of these chemistries is sufficient considerably to increase the risk of developing cancer. In an interview granted to mass media The Times, in March of this year, the President of the Cancer Prevention and Education Society, Jaime Page, commented that more effort in reducing the human exhibition is due to progress in fight against the cancer and to put to harmful chemistries. The British study is of great relevance for chemical companies that are in charge to pocesar this type, like for example Halton, company in charge of the manufacturing of organoclorados and many other chemical processes. The presence of pesticidas in the food increases the probabilities that a baby or boy it develops cancer, according to the experts of Liverpool, chemistries are transmitted to the humans by means of the ingestion of foods and in babies by means of maternal milk.

The English scientists create in the possibility that these chemistries affect the physical development of the baby before their birth, besides of doing them more prone to suffer cancer in some stage of their lives. The children with a frequent exhibition to insecticides, shampo piojicida and repelentes, have the double of possibilities of developing leukemia during the growth stage. The National Institute of Medical Studies of France, call INSERM, made an investigation based on 280 children diagnosed with acute leukemia and 288 who did not have the disease. The results showed that the risk of developing acute leukemia is the double in those children whose mothers used insecticides and products of gardening during and after the pregnancy. The chemical presents in these products are a known group as carbamatos and are the people in charge to cause leukemia. Another group is the compounds with bromate, these are used to avoid fires or circuits in devices that are within the television and the computers. The incinerations of remainders also represent a threat for the public health, specially for the people who live near where the process is made, since, like plastic chemistries and pesticidas, increase the risk of developing cancer. Some already they begin to take letters on the subject, as it is the case of the European Commission that it began to enclose labels with warnings and classifications of the present chemical product substances like paintings, varnices and cements. Although it is certain that the genetic factor this related to the development of cancerous cells, is not determining, the atmosphere that surrounds to us influences of more direct way like cancer cause.

Alarming Numbers The cancer is the second cause of death by chronic disease and kills to 7 million people every year around the world, calculates that in 15 years, this number will increase in a 50 percent, that is translated to 10 million annual deaths for the 2020. The World-wide Organization of the Health (the WHO) along with their committee of experts showed their preoccupation reason why they consider an epidemic and at the moment they develop a world-wide strategy to fight the cancer. This initiative looks for to diminish the avoidable cases of cancer by means of the reduction of risk factors as the little healthy diets, the consumption of tobacco or alcohol, the sedentarismo and the exhibition to infectious agents. According to Pakistani doctor, Yasmín Bhurgri, member of the committee of the WHO, the priority of the strategy it is to avoid that it increases the amount of cases of cancer in Asia and Latin America. Tanzania is one of the struck countries more, every year 30 thousand people are diagnosed with cancer of which less of the 10 percent it has access to basic medical tratatmientos, Twalib Ngoma informed, representative of the WHO. In the case of Latin America, the more common types of cancer are those than they are possible to be come up, like for example those that are derived from the tobacco, those of breast and those of colon.

Agreement with data of the WHO, around the 75 percent of the cases of cancer comes from countries with limited income that do not count on the preparation necessary to fight and to stop the disease. In order to put a stop to him to the epidemic of the cancer it is necessary that the countries that count on greater knowledge and scientific development collaborate and advise to the poorest regions, so that thus, the treatments are more accessible.
