The Hidden Wonders Of Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio, the modern city that is the capital of Ohio, is rapidly earning a reputation as capital of technology. Columbus is the main location base for over 150 technological companies. Some of these companies are large corporations that have additional smaller regional companies throughout North America.

Columbus is home to COSI Columbus. This science center is used as a learning institute for the sciences and continues to draw large numbers of tourists each year. There are many other things for you to see and do while you're in Columbus that will keep you busy for a long weekend or for a week long vacation in the summer.

A visit to the Capitol Square is a must for those interested in politics, you'll definitely want to partake in one of the many tours that are available. If politics don't interest you, take a stroll through a neighborhood known as the German Village. Make sure you stop to enjoy a German beer at the local bar on your way back to your hotel.

Adventure buffs will find lots to do in Columbus. Directly outside of Columbus is the city of Powell where you can spend a day at Wyandot Lake Adventure Park. The park offers you a variety of rides through waves, or if you prefer, you can stretch out by the pool.

Whether you are traveling with your kids or are kid at heart, the Columbus Zoo is a must see. The zoo often has special events scheduled throughout the year, call ahead to see what is planned, there's always something different happening at the zoo. If you're lucky you'll have a chance to meet some great animals up close and personal, such as the porcupines and anteaters, or discover the many varieties of the local snakes in the area around greater Columbus and throughout Ohio.

The Wilds is another amazing part of the Columbus Zoo. Here you can see wild animals in their natural habitat. Rhinos, zebras, elephants, and monkeys can be seen eating and interacting with each other.

The Southern Theater established in 1896 is one of the forgotten attractions of Columbus. This theater is ripe with history and has many tales to tell. Being a landmark of history in Columbus, it has been restored to its earlier grandeur and is treated with loving care. You can phone ahead to find out what shows are planned during your visit to the city. You can come to know more about the history of Columbus by participating in the many guided tours.

If you are interested in mixing food with your history you'll find the first Wendy's Restaurant in Columbus. This popular chain of restaurants originated in Columbus when owner Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy's in 1969. Not only can you visit the original restaurant, you can also order a meal.

A trip to Columbus can be a fun event for you and your family. Whether you are in Columbus for business or pleasure, make sure you have time to see the sites. Plan to take in some of the very fine dining that is available only in Columbus.
